Why is knowing and understanding a simplified breakdown of Facebook and Instagram audiences so important? 

Let’s start with this. There are plenty of business of businesses using digital marketing and there is competition in each and every niche.

Hence, if you want to be seen and make sales, then you definitely need to advertise your services or products – and digital is where the eyeballs are.

In digital marketing, Facebook and Instagram advertising is currently the most cost-effective, targeted marketing today. Knowing the all the different options with the audiences that is offered in ads will help you reach your right audience with the right message. 

Below is my breakdown of Facebook and Instagram audiences that I put together.

3 types of audiences inside Facebook. 

  1. Custom 
  2. Lookalike
  3. Saved (Interests/Behaviors)

My terminology for the 3 types of Audiences.

  1. Warm (Custom)
  2. Cold – Based on Warm (Lookalike)
  3. Cold (Saved)

 

Here are some things I hear often that aren’t quite right…

  • Aren’t lookalike audiences warm? No, they are still cold, but ‘based’ from warm audiences
  • Many do not realize there were so many custom audiences, such as uploading my email list and all my website traffic
  • Many also think their only audience options are based on interests and behaviors
  • Many try to convert to a sale with cold traffic, when conversion happens better with warm traffic (custom audiences)
