These mistakes happen often and can make or break your ad efforts. Facebook and Instagram ads do work, but often they are not implemented in the right ways to get them to truly convert to leads and sales. By using the solutions I recommend in these 5 (6 really) mistakes, it will increase ad success.

  1. Thinking You Know Your Audience
    • Everyone has an idea of who their audience is, but many don’t take the time to dig deep into this audience and test multiple audiences
  2. Not Running an Ad Long Enough
    • Length of time to run an ad can make all the difference from an ad working or not working at all. Many give up way too soon!
  3. Not Spending Enough $
    • Ad spend is a big question everyone has. It is important to spend enough to convert to Facebook’s recommended 50 conversions/week. So, it really depends on your goal. I will say, we have moved beyond $3-$5/day. This will take you forever to convert. I recommend starting higher than you’d like and it should really be at least $10/day or more.
  4. Not Understanding the Critical #’s
  5. Not TESTING a Ton of Variables – Audiences, Creative, Copy, Placements
    • Test, test, test! Heard this before? Testing with ads never ends. Be sure to test one variable at a time, but testing really will bring your ad costs down.
  6. BONUS! Not RETARGETING
    • Retargeting (getting in front of your warm audience) again and again is critical. These are the audiences you have already built trust with and they are more likely to buy from you!
