To Periscope or not to Periscope – Should you Periscope?

Periscope is the latest craze in the world of marketers and businesses. Is it a craze? Or is it here to stay?

What are the headlines about the Periscope App saying?

Who do I follow and watch?

I have only been dabbling on Periscope as of lately. I have been watching numerous marketers jump on this platform multiple times per day to teach marketing, how to use Periscope and more. Some of the people who have done an excellent job on their Periscopes are Kim Garst, Sue B. Zimmerman, Chris Ducker, Ryan Steinolfson, Casey Zeman and the list could go on. I even saw Kevin Hart is using Perscope, so it is not just for marketers. It looks like some famous people are hopping on this platform too!

Who is this for?

I believe it could be for any entrepreneur, speaker, consultant, coach, business owner who wants to get LIVE interaction and potentially a brand new audience. I’m not thinking it is best for the introvert, maybe a bit more for the extrovert who is comfortable speaking to a camera. Although this could be overcome with practice.

What is my experience and plan?

I do believe before jumping on any new social marketing platform, you must have a reason for doing it. You need a plan. You need a goal and you need to come up with ideas on what you will discuss. If you have that plan ready, you are more likely to take action. This is what I have done.

I have done a few Periscopes and plan to do at least 1 per day. So be sure to follow me there.

I will be keeping my audience up-to-date on the latest social media changes. There is at least a change every day with some social platform. I have many resources I follow and interact so much on social that I stay current with these changes, so that’s some of what I will be sharing.

The other things I will share are social media tips, video marketing tips, client success stories and other tips I have learned from Periscope.

Once of my biggest successes on Facebook for interaction is “Fan Page Friday”, so each Friday I will have other Periscopians (that’s my made-up-name for people on Periscope) share their business and network, so we all get to know each other better!

In the end, I have some product ideas I will be marketing there, as well as my other social networks. It is always important to come up with a way to monetize, otherwise it is just a hobby.

Will you be Periscoping?

Now it is time to make the decision if Periscope is right for you. If you are there, let me know your handle in the comments below. If you are not there, I suggest signing up and test out by watching other Periscopians. It is great learning and lots of fun! It is a great way to connect with people you might not be able to on any other platform.

Let me know what you think of Periscope.
